I am often asked which is the best killifish to start with. My answer is this fish...Fp. gardneri. This is the first killifish which I bred successfully when I started in the early 90's. They are hardy, easy to breed, and stunningly beautiful. They can live 2-3 years or more and they can be bred using the non-annual water incubation method or the annual peat moss method. They breed well in hard water and soft water.
