  • Comment: I received my order of Siamese Algae Eaters and Horned Sunset Garra about a month ago. Dan's Fish did such a wonderful job packing the fish; everything came in perfect condition. Dan's Fish's excellent communication about shipping made the experience easy and stress-free. The SAEs are, in fact, True SAEs. They are beautiful and healthy, exceeding my expectations. The Garra are my new favorite. They are boisterous, lively, and fun to watch. Playfully chasing each other around all day, they're certain to be the star of the show. I originally ordered here because True SAEs are hard to find, but I'll be a return customer for the unique variety and attention to detail in care and shipping. Thank you for everything!

I have purchased fish online from other sellers before but the packaging and individually bagged fish from Dans Fish is as good as it gets. Highly recommend, especially if there are fish you can't find locally. Acclimation process was floated bags in the tanks for 15 mins then plop and drop. The pseudomugils have settled in great. I look forward to ordering again.

  • Comment: I have received past orders in fine condition. This most recent order was delayed in shipping by the carrier. Despite the excellent packaging used by Dan's Fish, the water in the bags was extremely cold and the heat packs exhausted. All the fish in the shipment had died. I suspect the package had been left in an unheated area by the carrier for a whole day. Dan was prompt in issuing a refund. I will continue to be confident purchasing from Dan's Fish.

  • Comment: It was apparent that time was taken in securing the fish that were sent, and I appreciate a place that can hold the animals for a week to make sure they are healthy, I received a whole lot of new buddies and they all look great, my only concern was that it said it was like Christmas, it was ten if not twenty times better than Christmas , ha, thanks to everyone there ,you can tell they care about their livestock, this place is very cool if you are going for a biotope tank, especially if you want some uncommon gems, worth every penny

  • Comment: The Long Fin Corydoras Paleatus (basically high fin Salt and Pepper Corys) all arrived apparently healthy and active, and the packaging was perfect with heat packs that were still very warm and that kept the fish warm enough despite the cold temperatures outside. I had high expectations buying from Dan's Fish due to their great reputation in the hobby, and I was not disappointed.

  • Comment: For customer service and quality, nobody else compares to Dan's Fish. Ordering rare and expensive fish during a bout of freezing weather was scary, but they arrived safe and warm. Within minutes of hitting their new tank the Super Red Kribensis were colored up and happily picking through the sand. The peacock eels are right at the front of the tank hanging out, despite multiple hides avaliable. I'm so excited to watch them grow!

Dan's Fish has certainly earned their 5 star review. Also, if you are on the fence about overnight shipping costs, don't be! It's worth it to have your fish alive. Also love that they use UPS. USPS is too slow. Nice job to the team. I'll be a return customer.

It turned out fantastic from the time the shipping label was created it took around 20 hours for the fish to arrive in Brooklyn ny.the heat packs were still warm and loved that each fish were individually bagged.   • Comment: Unbelievable! I will not purchase fish online from anyone else. I purchased 48+ fish (tetra's, barbs and cory's) and each fish was individually double bagged with ample water and oxygen. Shipped across the US in January to the Northeast, the care of packaging and the extra layers of heat packs to create a stable environment was impressive. All arrived alive and active, they are all doing great and acclimated well. Dan's definitely cares as much as I do about the health and safety of the fish, which is paramount to me. From my 50+ years of experience in the hobby, Dan's is simply the best at in the industry.

After being delayed for a day by UPS, 16 of 17 fish arrived alive and active. Unfortunately a pygmy corydora did not make it. I took a picture and emailed them. I received my refund in less than an hour. Great customer service! By the way the Ember tetras look much more colorful than the ones I got from my lfs and it has only been 2 hours!

I was so impressed with how well the fish were packaged with excellent heat packs, all fish were individually bagged with double bags and vacuum sealed. Please don’t let this turn you away from purchasing from Dan and his team; you are buying excellent livestock that has been treated ethically and kindly from their arrival in Wyoming to their arrival at your door. The 28 individuals that I purchased are acclimating very well in their quarantine tank. They are lively, relatively well colored, and have exceptional appetites. I am excited to add these fish to my display tanks and show them off. Again, they aren’t cheap, but that’s a good thing.   • Comment: What a good experience. First off, Dan's has such a unique selection. I was looking for a larger schooling species for my 125 and Dan's had quite a few options to choose from. I ordered 12 Phenacogrammus sp. mokobile, a large tetra species out of Congo, which I had never seen or heard of before. I had a few questions before ordering and communication was excellent. This was a big purchase for me. I was a little nervous about buying such expensive fish online, but I'm so glad I did. The fish came in healthy and were even a little larger than I expected. Shipping was quick and the packaging was perfect. I will definitely be ordering again.

  • Comment: I've ordered these specific fish online before, (Pitbull Pleco LDA25), and nearly every experience has been an ordeal. Not with Dan's Fish! All six arrived individually bagged, and in a timely manner. I had excellent communication with Dan's Fish prior to shipping. These may be the hardiest Pitbull Plecos I've ever received. All six are going strong a month from arrival. Usually, I end up buying them like I would Otos: buy 3, hope maybe 2 survive the week. I have been pleasantly surprised. Every single fish came alive and well and are thriving. All were of a nice size....not too big and not too small. The packaging is superb and I am sure contributes to the survival rate.   • Comment: My fish arrived alive and healthy. The rummy nose tetras colored up minutes after being introduced to each other. This is my first time ordering healthy chili rasbora, every other vendor has been a poor experience. 19 of 20 arrived in excellent shape, the remaining one didn't make it past acclimation. They are also extremely small, certainly juvenile/young adult while my orders from other vendors were all nearly twice the size. Make sure your filter intake has a fine sponge/mesh to ensure they don't get sucked in!

Add to that, my dream fish, Phenacogrammus aurantiacus, was available in the shop along with the Aytinjo locale of Boesemani Rainbow, and I had to order some! Shipping was efficient and the fish were packed very well. They have settled in fantastically, and after only two weeks, the Golden Congo tetras were showing courtship behavior.   • Comment: I have had a difficult time with Rummynose tetras over the years. I’ve tried a couple local fish stores and tried an online fish store but have only succeeded in keeping about 4 healthy Rummynose tetras out of easy 40 or more attempts. I was about to give up on them, but stumbled upon Dan’s Fish. I sent an email asking about their water parameters, watched some of their online videos, and researched a few forums. I was impressed by their process of quarantining and their excellent customer service replying to my email in leads than 24 hours. I decided to give them a try. My shipment was delayed a day, due to UPS not Dan’s and I was a little worried with previous experiences with these temperamental beauties. They arrived the next day and I opened the box to find all 10 alive and well. The individual packaging for each fish is nothing short of spectacular. I drip acclimated them and placed them in my quarantine tank. The next day their noses were bright red and they were swimming around energetically and they ate enthusiastically. I monitored them for a week+ and then introduced them to the display tank. They didn’t love the move at first but were in great shape the next morning. I am so very pleased with the quality of fish and the service I’ve received. Thank you.

After trying to keep some panda corys THREE TIMES and having tons of bad luck from other sources, I decided to try one more time with some pandas from Dans. These fish aren't known for having great genetics & suffering terribly while in transit. I kept loosing fish around the 2-3 week mark. Well not even 2 weeks in the pandas are already spawning! These things are huge. We've nick-named the fat females "beluga" and "orca". Thanks for some really chunky, sassy corys :) Chilis are also looking really good. They took a while to calm down from shipping & eat, but they're finally exploring their little territory. They are notably young juveniles and are not adults. However, there have been 0 casualties thus far which is always a win. In general you will not find another source that packages fish so carefully, ensuring fish are destressed & at good weight/healthy, and responsibly sourced :)
