  • Comment: First ever online order of live fish, very positive experience. Corys arrived in perfect condition. One thing, the first picture of the Elegant Cory is a little misleading. They are the plainer ones in the additional pics not the spotted ones. Still beautiful fish with a thin gold stripe on their backs, wide black banded side, and iridescent green highlights on their cheeks. I think being wild caught makes them a little more skittish than tank raised but after a couple weeks they are settling in just fine. Fascinating fish, I just ordered 5 more.

  • Comment: I cannot think of a way Dan's fish could do better with their shipping. Styrofoam lined box, a heat pack secured to the lid and each fish individually double bagged.... I mean wow! Nailed it guys and gals! All fish arrived energetic, a perfect 75 degrees in the box, no sign of shipping trauma at all! Thank you thank you thank you for the quality!

  • Comment: In my previous review I stated that I had some problems with an individual or two. I now believe that a hydra outbreak caused for the individual I lost to be outcompeted for food. Furthermore they displayed a certain discomfort with the sand that was covered in hydra. Upon moving them to a clean quarantine tank the are settling down on the clean sand and showing obvious improvement and comfort. Thank you guys for the concern! I have to assume responsibility on this one even though it was nice to know you were willing to replace. 💛 I wanted to add for the curious to get your hands on these! When they settle in they have a great orange/gold color! Fabulous color!

  • Comment: All fish arrived on time and alive, but the Platinum Rummynose Tetras have some kind of issue... lost one from the previous order and Dan's sent a replacement with this order (9 total). Lost the replacement plus 3 more within 48 hours. They showed no signs of infection or disease, just died. Contacted Dan's and they offered to refund for the lost fish since they also were having issues with this batch of Rummynose. The only other thing was that the bags of fish were cold upon arrival due to the changing seasons. It may be too early for heat packs, but better than cold fish I think. Overall very satisfied with the great customer service and quick responses from Dan's! Still a great company with quality fish and extremely high standards! Thank you!!

Seller Reply: Hello Joshuaj21, Sorry to hear we failed with these tetras. I'm usually good at making the right heat pack combos to keep the fish cozy, but it looks like I goofed on this one. These are one of our cornerstone species, and we usually do very well with them. Seems this batch is having issues during shipping, but that is rare...I can't remember the last time we had significant problems on a batch level. If you want to try again when we get a new batch in, I'll send you a free group. -Dan

This is my third order from Dan's and like the first one it went off without a hitch. A week after shipment I still have 100% survival and happy looking fish.   • Comment: I've been really wanting some kuhli loachs for my tank. So when I was asked what I wanted for my birthday I knew exactly what I wanted! I was super nervous about ordering live fish online but now I know Dans fish is amazing!! They where at my front door step the next morning approximately 14 hrs later from takeoff. Also she originally ordered two short on accident and when I emailed them to see if I can add two more to the order that was responded to quickly and easily done.   • Comment: For my birthday I got these as a gift, It has been a week since I received the Gold Lyretail Killifish pair and Super Red Bristlenose pleco. They are doing very very good, best shipment of fish Ive ever received, yesterday I already collected 6 eggs from the killifish too, which I am very happy about. The pleco is doing really good aswell, super active and eating like a pig. Once floating in the quarantine tank and released, he bounced back very quickly and looks great. No issues. Just a heads up, it might be about time to start adding some insulation for heat retention during shipping. The Mystery SAE's were bigger than expected, but that is NOT a complaint just an observation. They are ready to get to work by the looks of them! Another awesome order from Dan's! Thank y'all!!

It will take a couple days for them to get their color, but they are picking around for food already. I drip acclimated them because I have much softer water with presumably lower PH, so I did them very slowly. Thank you Dan and crew!

As a nano/micro fish enthusiast I find it hard to order fish online. since most come with sunken stomachs and/or disease and they’re so small they rarely make it but they were a great size and healthy and they put these tiny fish individually in bags which is unheard of so glad I stumble upon their YouTube page and their philosophy on selling fish ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

  • Comment: Received my fish after a two days with UPS shipping and a delay. My concern thus far is the manner at which I saw the UPS delivery driver throw my small box of Apisto’s onto my doorstep. Can only imagine what the handling has been through the whole journey. May want to look for a delivery service who’s a little more compassionate about what they’re delivering.

  • Comment: Perfect across the board. Dan's Fish has an excellent species selection, including many hard-to-find types. I selected Rio Mamore Dwarf Cichlid, Trio (1M2F) and am quite impressed. Each fish was individually bagged, the shipping box insulated, and packaged with a warm pack -- the water at 78 degrees at delivery. The Apistos are healthy, active, and looking great. Have you gone to Dan's YouTube channel and watched the tour of the new facility? The water sourcing, purification, and conditioning system is beyond impressive. Dare I say Dan's Fish is the SpaceX of the aquarium trade?

  • Comment: I was a little apprehensive of ordering fish online. Did a lot of looking online after a lot of personal debate I pulled the trigger on some fish I really wanted with dans fish. Other then a minor screw up on my part ( had an issue with my emails) dans did an excellent job from communication to packaging. USPS did there job as well getting it them to me in a timely manner. Fish look great. All are eating well and settled in there new tanks. Honestly can’t say enough about these guys. Definitely a satisfied customer and plan to order again.

  • Comment: Ordered 8 CPDs and 8 Chili Rasboras that made the trip to WA alive and active. Packaging was excellent with each tiny fish in its own double bag and ship water looked very clean. I proceeded to temperature acclimate 20 minutes and they are now in their own (with a couple nerites and aminos) densely planted and scaped 10 and 15 gallon tanks. Chili’s came quickly to front of their tank looking for food. CPD’s are still hiding in their tank. They were a little smaller than expected but I am hopeful they all adapt and thrive. Would not hesitate to recommend Dan’s Fish as an online source for fish.

  • Comment: The overall packaging was very secure and no bags had any leaks. All but one fish handled the traveling and adjustment well and after almost 2 weeks only the one fish has died. Sizes of the fish may have been a bit small than I hoped, but the description was accurate. Communication with the team was great given that it was a holiday weekend and the responses were near immediate. Would highly recommend!

  • Comment: Received three Pygmy Corys…two died a few days later and the third wasn’t in good shape (it later died also). This happened during the hottest part of the summer. Dan’s Fish offered a complete refund of cost plus shipping…and suggested that I have them shipped to my local UPS store for pick up by me so that the fish wouldn’t be riding around in a hot truck for hours on their way to my residence. I did that and the Cory’s arrived fine and healthy! Excellent communication and accommodation from Jonny! Highly recommend this store.

  • Comment: This is the largest fish order I have made. I ordered from Dan’s Fish once before and was absolutely impressed by their communication and quick shipping. The individually packaged fish is amazing. Dan’s was the only successful place I have received healthy Rummynose tetras from, to include local big box pet stores (that rarely have them). The last order I made did great but there was an unfortunate water change incident that my wife helped with that caused a great loss of fish (we don’t mention it anymore 😬). This order was no exception. Rummy’s doing great along with the danios and dwarf rainbows. I only had two losses and both were due to the fish jumping out of the container I was acclimating them in (one danio and one tail spotted flying fox). Didn’t notice until the next day when I couldn’t find my new flying fox in the tank and then found it on the floor under the stand. The other flying fox is in another tank and doing great. So, I made another order yesterday. If you are considering ordering from Dan’s, you won’t be disappointed. Excellent!!
