  • Comment: Great overall experience. They answered all my questions so quickly and the fish arrived in awesome condition and the bags they were in were nice and warm. After only a few minutes in their new tanks, they started coloring up. Everyone is swimming around exploring and they seem pretty relaxed after about an hour or so. Will be ordering again when we get our 215 gallon set up and ready!

  • Comment: Great experience and a smooth process. Everything arrived alive. There was one glowlight danio that was clearly not doing well and died a day or two later. The water was at least 83 degrees because of all the heat packs, but that was probably because it was unseasonably warm for the time of year, and because I grabbed the package within a few minutes of delivery. I lost one glowlight danio to slow wasting four weeks later, and one more seems like it might meet the same fate. I don't want to speculate on what caused that, but I think those two stayed spindly when the rest fattened up immediately. Given that these are small fish and they were shipped, I'm really impressed with the health and survival rate. I love the YouTube content too, because it gives me a better idea of the fishes' behavior and appearance. I'm a huge fan of Dan and his approach to the fish business, and I'd absolutely suggest buying from him.

  • Comment: This was my first order with Dan's Fish. I decided to try them after watching his videos and having multiple health issues with the other business I purchased fish from. They all arrived active and alive. There was not one fish out of 16 total, that I thought "wouldn't make it" when I opened the box. They all colored up the first day and all of them ate well. The company was great to deal with from the start. Answering all my questions honestly and replying to every email. I've already sent them another order!

I was a bit nervous about my first order, as I thought this must be too good to be true. I was beyond impressed with the entire transaction. Fish packed to perfection. Quality unmatched.   • Comment: 4 out of 6 white wizard snails arrived unwell. It's not unusual for snails to go dormant in shipping. After 48 hours in the tank, only the 2 snails seem to be alive. The hoplo catfish from the same order all arrived alive, though with very tattered fins. Overall not the best experience. Other orders I've made from Dan's have been better. Generally, you can expect Dan's Fish to take care of you if you have any issues with your order. Try to reach out to them before leaving a review.

Two delivery drivers dropped off my 5 Bosemani Rainbow fish early this morning with less than a day in shipping. Packaged beautifully with a heating pad, the fish were individually wrapped and happily swimming when I opened the box. Writing this review almost 12 hours later and they are doing very well! He was tiny when he arrived, but two weeks later he's already doubled in size. I've had poor success before with some locally purchased Nerite snails, but the Zebra Nerites I received from Dan's are all thriving. They are quite active, and I enjoy watching them move around my 55 gal. aquarium.

  • Comment: My puffers have been great and nearly a month on they're doing phenomenally. They're currently in a heavily planted tank with plenty of Neocaridina and I have every intention of adding otos now that I know everyone is healthy. I used to have scuds and a glut of ramshorn snails, but I'm 99% sure that neither populations survived the purge like I thought they would. It doesn't matter how many hiding places you think you have, the peas will find them. I can't guarantee you'll see it but I even saw one of the males practicing his puffing and for a glorious 10 seconds was a little yellow sphere. All in all, great little peas.

They do a wonderful job with each fish clearly marked which is handy if the fish are going into separate aquariums. I used to deal only in Gobies with Dan's Fish but I was overjoyed to discovered that there are many other options. Dan's Fish takes the worry out of buying fish online. They were packaged extremely well and with so much care. It is so evident to me Dan cares about his fish. I ordered 4 Reticulated Hillstream Loaches and they arrive in very good shape. In any case it did not appear to have passed due to disease) was refunded within an hour of reporting.   • Comment: Nearly Flawless. 4.5/5 Fish arrived in a plain white box, no indication on the outside that live animals were inside the package. I checked the website prior to the box arrival to verify any policy for DOA or acclimation, but I wasn't able to find anything in the Q&A section. The box did include a card which indicated very brief directions, mentioning only ~20 minutes temperature acclimation. I would like to see these include slightly more detailed information, if need be, or link to a video that can be watched while the fish are temperature acclimating as required. The box arrived within the one day time frame, but upon opening the box the heat pack felt barely active, tepid at best. I pulled the heatpack off the lid and tried to re-activate the heatpack with fresh oxygen and moving the particles around. It was fully exhuasted (cold) about 45 minutes after box arrival. Had there been any delays at all in shipping, even one hour, I would've been more concerned. Fish arrived in an overall decent condition. One of the white clouds did look like it got a bit stressed and had some redness. I do have 1 of the 7 I ordered that isn't schooling with the group and seems stressed. My SAE I am monitoriing, but seems to be doing perfectly ok. I will monitor the fish over the next couple of days to verify they weren't damaged in shipping. Within a few hours of acclimating to their new home I turned the lights on and I could see normal fish coloration. Within the box itself, I would've expected some of the voids that were in the box to be filled with bags of air or packing material, but there wasn't anything like this. With the box not indicating live animals inside, this is a slight concern as far as how it was handled in transit. Overall a good experience, but there are some improvements explaining the overall process for newer hobbyists that want high quality fish from a trusted, reliable, sustainable source. I wish I had been able to order more fish!!!

Variatus looking good.One clown killi not swimming well. Time will tell. Fish packed nicely (individually). Heat pack still warm. One potential problem you should be aware of. The package was found on the front porch a little after 10am. I never receive any notification of delivery even though I signed up for a text message notification with UPS. I checked the tracking# link not long before delivery and it was last updated at 7am. This information didn't change until after 12 noon. The weather has been warmer than usual but today was a seasonal cold snap. I realize this is out of your control but wanted to let you know that this problem exists and could lead to poorer outcomes.
