Guineese pair, but was notified on the day of shipping that they realized they were short one male red striped killie. I replied with replace with bivittatum. What I received for bivittatum do not look like the picture at all . Attached is a picture of what I got and the package it was in. Sending pics separately.

Distinguishing the sex of these killifish are difficult as both the male and the female look very similar to each other even to the indistinguished eyes. When I introduced the fish in the tank, they immediately gravitated to the bunch of subwassertang. Thank you for your consideration and service.

  • Comment: I have been taking care of fish for a couple of years now and I don’t mind spending $50 on a pair of fish. Or the $40 extra for shipping. But the male of the two fish I got was not in great shape after shipping and died very shortly after trying to get him acclimated to my tanks water. There is also no way to request a refund because the fish have to be DOA for you to do anything about it. So I paid 90$ for a female fish. Female fish are only sold with the males and not even showed their picture because you are buying them to help the males colors. I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. Would give 0 stars if I could.

I received a delay notice from ups and I emailed Dan’s fish and they promptly responded saying the fish were now showing out for delivery! My son was so excited to get his “splats” as he calls them! We will definitely order from in the future!

  • Comment: This is the best place to get aquatic life, hands down. On this order I had two DOA fish, but because they package each fish by itself, the others were not compromised by the dead fish. I got 8 healthy live fish, and with the two DOAs, I was promptly and courteously refunded not only the cost of those two fish, but some of the shipping as well! You just don’t get better service than that. I HIGHLY recommend Dan’s Fish, and from now on, will buy from no one else.

Dan's worked with me to help me through this process and the Hawaiian Ag Dept was awesome as well. I did have a few issues with delays with UPS. My Next Day delivery was 3 days, but Dan's had packed my fish so well all but one of the eleven made it and are spawning the next day. Fish look great ! Amazing finnage on my young Apistogramma too. Dan's were in constant communication with me through all this.   • Comment: Purchased 25 fish, 6 snails, and 4 amano shrimp. All arrived alive in a styrofoam box with 3 heat packs and newspaper lining inside the styrofoam. All animals were alive and individually bagged with double bags which I’m confident after several purchases makes a huge difference in reducing stress and less ammonia in the bags. Unfortunately, 3 neons died in the first 24 hrs. and when I could find the snails I noticed one had a sizable crack in its shell. I know most of the tetras are sold as unsexed but of the 5 emperor tetras I received, they are all adult mature males and seeing lots of battling. Would be nice to know that some consideration is given to sexing an order of 3 or more when sexing of a species is easier to identify.

  • Comment: Received fish on time, bags were at about 71 degrees inside. 2 cardinal tetras were packaged with a snail, one of them dying. The other struggled, uninterested in food until the next day when it died. 2 more have died since. All the corys and the remaining cardinals have been just fine so far. Just a bit bummed, but Jonny has made things right. Not sure if this is just a cardinal tetra thing, I know they can be fussy.

Seller Reply: Hello Ariminsol, Thanks for the honest feedback. I'm sorry the tetras had issues. If properly sourced and properly transported, Cardinal Tetras should not be fussy. They should thrive long term. Something must have gone wrong somewhere if they arrived to you dying and weak. Please let us know if you have any additional losses in the next week or so. Refunded for the one DOA plus shipping which is unusual to get shipping prorated in this industry so thats nice. But for the other one I am out of luck. But the communication along the way and the packing of the fish—you really cant ask for anything more. tight single fish in each double bag. perfect temperature. the survivors already voraciously attacked some brine shrimp so hoping they will be fine. update 2 weeks later--they are thriving and trying to spawn.   • Comment: Easy to follow process from finding the fish on the site all the way through picking shipping dates. Makes for a easily planned arrival. All fish should up extremely well packaged and in great shape. The corydoras quickly recovered from the shipping process and colored up very nicely in their quarantine tank very quickly. All the signs of extremely high quality fish and very much so worth the cost. Looking forward to when they get out of quarantine and go into the display tank in a few weeks. Will gladly do business with Dan's Fish in the future and already planning future orders for possible breeding projects. I definitely recommend them as a supplier for those looking for high quality fish and some harder to find species/localities.

The ember tetras immediately found each other in the tank and began exploring the tank together. Oh, were they ever surprised by the blackworms inhabiting the botanical littered bottom! Side note: in my very recent experiment, a large enough colony of blackworms in a heavily planted tank, has removed the need for the standard liquid fertilizers. Thanks again all @ Dansfish.com!
