Comment: 3 of the 6 Green Sail fin Mollies arrived looking pretty rough. 2 of the males are pretty thin and weak looking, one female looks possibly deformed. The other two females look robust and healthy, and the 3rd male looks healthy. I'm assuming it from the shipping, and hope the 2 thin males and weird looking female bounce back with care.

Comment: This was my 10th order of fish from Dan’s and all the fish arrived in great shape! The (old school) blue acaras are doing exactly what Dan suggested when he mentioned them in his YouTube stream: They're bringing me back to my boyhood days of seeing these fish for the first time. All three are a great size and very healthy. One of them (pretty sure a male) is a bit sassy for a blue acara, but I think there's plenty of room for them in my 75gal and plenty of dither fish to deter constant chasing. They're a great addition next to my tank full of electric blue acaras!

Comment: I had a great experience. Thru no fault of Dan’s, UPS delayed my shipment by over a day in the middle of winter (Michigan). I think the box sat in a cold warehouse for over a day. The fish were not alive when they showed up at my door. I contacted Dan’s right away and they responded we are sorry and this rarely happens. They sent the guppies back out a couple of weeks later at no charge to me. They showed up on time and in great condition. Thank you very much

They had noticed before my shipping date that the red wag platys had a disease and treated them before sending them off to me. Comment: OK, that was super fast and unexpected! I posted the review below a couple of hours ago and it notes that I lost a rummy nose tetra later in the day after it arrived alive. And I received an email from customer service 1 hour later, without asking for a refund, they refunded me for the fish! Great customer focus guys! Nice job! All cardinals look good and colored up within minutes of entering the quarantine tank. The rummy nose took about an hour. One rummy nose was swimming upside down and died by evening. All fish were individually packed and heat packs in the packing box were still warm. The fish arrived at 11:45am 15 minutes ahead of their scheduled arrival. I fed them that evening and this morning every one ate well. This is very good! I’ve had too many bad experiences with the local stores in my area. I never even thought of buying mail order until my first purchase back in November. 33 fish arrived 1 had a problem with the stress of the over night trip. That’s better than some of my local purchases. Thank you!

Comment: I’m really disappointed with how this order has been handled. I received an email stating my order would ship on a certain day so I planned around that and even worked from home as a one-time exception to receive the delivery. I later found out the shipment was pushed back because my orders were automatically combined — without any clear notification that this would delay shipping. While customer service did respond and explain what happened, the lack of communication around the change was frustrating and caused unnecessary inconvenience. For a business dealing with live fish, clear and proactive communication around shipping dates is critical, and this experience missed the mark.

I'd encourage anyone to order from Dan's, the fish arrived to my home healthier than fish I've received from local stores. Giving 4/5 stars because I didn't receive one of the items I had ordered, Dan's fish refunded me pretty much immediately for the missing item plus percentage of shipping. I was really looking forward to what I ordered, and now I'd have to pay flat rate shipping for just the one thing, so it doesn't really make sense for me to do that. Sounds like my situation was a one-off (stuff like this happens to me often) so I hope this wouldn't dissuade anyone from ordering. ***Update*** 5/5 stars. These guys will absolutely go above and beyond should anything go wrong. Customer service reached out and made sure I would receive the rest of my order the following week!!!

I was nervous ordering online and his color was dull when he arrived but he quickly acclimated and is now the most beautiful, vibrant orange and blue shimmery mix. Comment: I have been purchasing from Dan's for quite some time now and continue to recommend them to everyone in the hobby. Prior to this review my rating would have been a 5. However, I recently had an order in which the following day 3 of the CPDs were dead. I know this is not my fault as all my parameters were perfect and stable. The 3 fish were in bad shape when they arrived and I was unable to claim them dead for a refund. I believe this had to do with the shipping process as Dan's takes care of their fish more than any other delivery company I know and I have used plenty of others. They are still my go to but this was an unfortunate situation nonetheless. Update: Within 30 minutes of leaving this review I was contacted with an apology email and refund without ever asking. Customer service and product quality does not get better than Dans

Comment: Received my lemon tetras and dwarf gouramis in great condition. Dans gave me great advice about the gourami disease ( of which these are guaranteed disease free of that virus). I also ask for a chance to get one male of the gouramis and while they couldn’t guarantee it at this age, I’m pretty sure I got one due to its color already. Very happy with the whole process including how fast they reply to questions.

Comment: All fish arrived healthy (dull colored from stress though), double bagged, and one fish per bag. All were clearly labelled, box was kept at a good temp and they all made it. The color-up was immediate and the tetras joined the existing shoal no problem, and the loaches....well, are loaching (swimming at high speeds in all areas of the tank, hiding, etc) As far as I know, the fish are thriving. I can spot the 5 rummynose easy enough but I've only been able to find a couple of the dwarf chain loaches (there should be a total of 9, 8 of which were ordered from Dan's). They may just need a few more days to get comfortable but I'm in shock that an online retailer got me better/healthier fish than my own LFS can.

Comment: Ordered three trios of Red Drago Guppy's over the course of two weeks. First order arrived with two trios, with one male DOA. The other was showing sever signs of stress compared to the females. Sent email, they did honor the DOA and refund my money. Then the following week, ordered another trio. The male made it here and wasn't DOA but he was very unactive and I knew something was off. I slowly drip acclimated all fish like I always do over the course of 2 hours. I added them to the tank and the male was floating 6 hours later. I am not sure if the males are so weak due to being inbreed but something is for sure wrong with the males they are sending. I now have 6 females and one male that I am really hoping hangs on and stays alive. Another note: The package arrived and the temp was 79 degrees, so I know it wasn't due to excessive temperature swings. There has to be issue with the line of males.

I’ve sent at least seven emails with various questions, and Dan and his team have been incredibly patient. They took the time to understand my planted tank setup and recommended the best species for my specific stock. I appreciate that they even adjusted their advice as they learned more about my tank's needs. I chose them because of their stellar reputation on YouTube, and despite being a first-time mail-order buyer, I feel completely confident. 5 stars for the support alone—I will update once the fish arrive. UPDATE: I ordered 1 Bolivian Ram, 8 Gold White Cloud Mountain Minnows, and 5 Dwarf Neon Rainbow Fish. They were packed with extreme care... one fish per bag. They were shipped and delivered in one day. I've had them for 8 days. They all look very healthy. I have them split up into 2 Quarantine tanks. Once these are in their assigned tanks, I'll place another order. I'm very pleased with the way Dans Fish does business.

Comment: We had previously purchased from another online fish store (before researching reviews) and had a bad experience, we were hesitant to order again but the pleco we wanted we couldn’t find anywhere local. After researching Dans and seeing his videos we decided to give it a shot, and so glad we did! The care and passion shows through, each fish was individually bagged and shipped air! We had our fish less than 24hrs after they shipped. Multiple heat packs the box said handle with care (the other company did not have any indication that there was a living thing in the box), and when we opened up the box everyone was alive! We acclimated our fish and everyone has been lively eating swimming and look nice and healthy. We definitely have plans to buy again!

Comment: I ordered 18 fish and 3 rabbit snails for my 75 gallon tank. Everything I ordered once shipped arrived next day as anticipated on a snowy Michigan day in lovely 15 degree weather. I had them inside right after delivery and opened about 10 minutes after receiving. Packaging was neat and tidy, still plenty warm with heating packs taped to the top. All fish were lively and after floated for 25 minutes let free in my aquarium. Here we are approaching day 2 and all are just as healthy. The assorted “mystery” fish was a pleasant surprise also. Will definitely purchase again one day from Dan’s fish! Thanks for the good experience.

Comment: Platinum Redtail Dumbo Ear Guppy, Pair both had Ich. Yellow King Tiger Cobra Guppy, Pair the female had ich. One of the Red Dragon female had ich. First time buying so I'm not sure if this is the norm but out of 12 guppies 4 had ick. This is nothing new when it comes to live bearers but my buddies from the local fish club glazed the f out of this website stating they quarantine their fish and care for the fish. For the price I would look elsewhere. Another problem I have is that out of 4 males only 1 actually resembles it's name the rest looks like mutt guppies I would find at Petco. I've separated the 4 that showed ich spots into a tank I had running for fry whereas the rest is inside my quarantine tank. Please ALWAYS quarantine your fish no matter what people say. I am very upset with the quality of the fish and the false claims. I've seen worst but this is why people hesitate to join this hobby. 24 hour update all my Julis from Dan's fish has died. I doubt it's my setup as the albino corys I'm quarantining on the side from my LGS are doing great. The 4 guppies with Ich are going through the phases with meds helping. My buddy keeps telling me I got unlucky but I feel extremely lied to about their healthy and sassy fish. It's more like sick and depressed. 48 Hour update Meds are doing work all guppies are eating and looking well besides the white ich dots on the 4 that I've separated from the rest. An important thing to note I've been informed that Dan's fish uses salt while shipping. Although I can't prove its the cause of death, It also can't be disproven since all the julis died within 24 hours while the guppies are alive and well besides the 4 that came in with Ich. If your doing your research and click on the 1 ratings my final say is that I might of just gotten unlucky? I would recommend you to buy just a few to test before making a big order like I did. 8 julis dying hurts the wallet. Credit where credit is due their customer support is good.
